Today we are spending a couple hours discussing in our group what ideas we think are valuable. Hopefully by the end of the session we will have all completed our story boards and come to an agreement as to who our target audience will be.

Made In Shiplake

Dear all,

I am proud to present you with our first video production, for our preliminary task.
In this short clip, we experimented with various camera angles and techniques. You may notice a small glitch with the continuity in a scene with the opening and closing of the curtains.

I personally found this piece enjoyable creating because it made clear to me just how much thought must go in to creating just a single scene never mind an entire movie. During filming we had to consider camera angles, editing, sound and lighting which was particularly tricky. Especially being in the position of the actor it became evident to me just how patient we as a group had to be just to shoot a clip. We concentrated hard on the editing, as you may notice that when I walk into a room for a meeting, the next shot of me sitting down (with the curtain continuity error) is in another room which involved creativity. We thought it would work but evidently we found out the hard way after having posted the video online that it did not look professional.

We have decided to name the production 'Made In Shiplake' mainly because of the popular reality show 'Made In Chelsea' being at its popularity peak. Also I had recently attended their casting therefore it felt appropriate and cheeky.

After showing the clip to the rest of our Media class we gathered some useful feedback. We kept hearing the same things over and over again...
"shots of Tims hands on the handle looked good" (mix of close up shots)
"need to keep continuity of scenes and characters" (editing)
"where Tim walked in to one room and the talking was filmed in another room was hidden well and flowed into each shot" (editing)

Clearly we had started off well and made a good impression, especially with our editing skills. Luckily none of the classmates spotted the continuity error but unfortunately we couldn't hide it from Mr.Milburn our teacher. We will bear all the criticisms and compliments in mind, so we can create a perfect final piece.

Hope you enjoy
